Saved by a Dead Tree

The revelation that regulators recently levied a $185 million fine against a household name mega bank (for fraudulently creating additional accounts for customers without their knowledge) shocked the Banking Industry. The amount of the penalty was the largest in Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) History and the reputation of this well-known institution “faces an uphill battle after the scandal”, according to a business review article.

With 24/7 news coverage, we hear many stories of unethical behavior and the Leasing Industry is not immune. Upon learning about the abusive actions of a competitor, one Leasing Executive reacted by saying, “No one has morals anymore, they are ruled by greed.”

My belief, however, is that those companies who engage in questionable practices will suffer the consequences, while those who treat customers fairly and deliver a good product will thrive. I have seen and experienced many examples of good customer service that undergird and support this belief.

Recently, my wife and I received the bad news that our massive oak tree that shaded our back yard and gave us a sense of pride and privacy in our urban home, was suffering from root rot. Learning there is no cure, we were faced with getting bids to remove this defining feature of our home. We were heartbroken but even more so when we started to get bids. The estimates spanned a broad range and some even necessitated the demolition of a stone retaining wall that only added to the cost. We were distraught to say the least.

Luckily, we mentioned our plight at a social event and received a recommendation from a friend. After checking their reviews and obtaining a bid from them, we settled on hiring them to do the work, and held our breath. When a storm resulted in a large branch falling into our yard, we called and asked to move up the date. They obliged and showed up as scheduled with an army of trucks, a huge crane and a capable crew. They exceeded our expectations for a reasonable and fair cost. We will definitely submit a favorable review.

With the explosion of social media, companies such as the two bad apples mentioned above will be exposed and will most likely lose customers and not attract new business. As more existing customers and prospects compare their options, they may choose to use another provider.

On the other hand, it is always good to promote a business, such as our tree removal company, so that others who need these services can be assured of a job well done. A first hand and positive review can make a decision an easy one. Not all businesses are ruled by greed but rather by the goal of serving customers fairly and receiving a fair compensation for their services.

We hope to have the opportunity to serve your leasing needs,
